After the tightest standings race in A-Division history, the Buzzards secured a 4th place finish and a 1st round Quarter-final series with the highly penalized Team Players.
After easily winning game 1 5-1, and jumping out to a 3-0 lead in Game 2, the Buzzards got sucked into penalty trouble and gave away the game to tie the series.
Game 3 saw penalties become the deciding factor when a questionable "injury" to the opposing goaltender.. He laid motionless for 3 minutes on the ice helping to convince the officials that the collision with his glove was severe.
Fortunately for the Team Players their goaltender made a miraculous recovery once a 5-minute major penalty was assessed, and the resulting Powerplay became the decisive factor with 2 PPG coming in that time.
The Buzzards battled back to score late in the 3rd, but it was waived off in favor of another penalty & the Team Players added an empty netter to secure the series.
Good luck to the Team Players in the semi-finals.
